"What is the Matrix"?

I typed in “What is the matrix” to Google search, and found more or less what I should’ve expected to find—an enumeration of people all too willing to answer that question for me.

My favorite is this site, in which the person who runs it has linked pretty much everything imaginable to the “Matrix Control System”. God, freewill, cosmology, physics, aliens, New World Order, you name it. It’s pretty intense, but it all lies under the pretense of what we are talking about in class with “awakening” and “reality”.

This quote was on the introduction page: “Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening.”

Those last couple of words struck me, so I decided to give this guy a try and read on. I soon found myself in the text of a book he’d written called “Fringe Knowledge: For Beginners”. Basically, “Fringe Knowledge” is a higher knowledge, because those who seek it have been alienated to the fringes of society. Hm, sound familiar? In any case, a paragraph from the foreword of this book connected totally:

“If ignorance is bliss, why seek truth? Because permanent freedom is far more valuable than temporary comfort. Truth frees you from the manipulation, miscalculation, and disillusionment that ignorance inevitably brings. You want to know, and no amount of external gratification can satisfy that inner vacuum yearning to be filled with meaning, purpose, and understanding.”

Spot on. Apparently a lot of people ask these questions, and the consensus seems to be that the journey to awareness, and to understand the idiosyncrasies of fact and fiction, is necessary and overall worthwhile. I continued to read on a bit further, and stumbled upon this gem:

“While there are positive aliens, let’s concentrate on the negative aliens and why they are here. Like other negative beings, they see mankind as a natural resource to be exploited. They value earth as a jackpot of needed minerals, a treasure trove of advanced technology stashed here by other alien races over time, and a strategic outpost leveraging their military and political power in the galaxy.”

…Now I don’t know a whole lot about reality versus illusion, but I can tell you that this guy and I are in two very different places. I can also say, with confidence, that it would be unfortunate to “wake up” and find myself in any reality close to that one. If aliens are truly caching galactically valuable resources on planet earth , I think I’ll stay ignorant, thank you.
