High, low, and eye...brow. What are we getting into?

I certainly am becoming excited about this semester. The concept of highbrow vs. lowbrow isn’t something I’ve come into contact with much, probably due to a lack of desire/motivation in exploring the highbrow department. But I think whatever concept I had of it before was a bit misconstrued. I’d initially thought lowbrow was classified as something of lesser-quality, which may in some cases be true, but I think it is going to have a lot more to do with it’s availability and audience. Just because something is more easily understood shouldn’t be cause for us to discredit it. Or maybe the opposite is true, and lowbrow is credited for its ease, while highbrow is stigmatized for its incomprehensible qualities.

I anticipate this to at some point be clarified. But then again, the trend seems to be more along the lines of coming out of the class more confused than when you went in. I'm remaining optimistic.
